NBA Trades

The trade deadline, which was on February 19, brought many interesting trades.

One of of the biggest trades was between the Suns, Heat, and Pelicans. The Heat got Goran and Zoran Dragic, the Suns got Danny Granger, John Salmons, 2017 and 2019 first round draft pick, and the Pelicans got Norris Cole, Justin Hamilton, and Shawn Williams.  The Heat stole away Goran Dragic from the Lakers and Knicks and hope that he will return to his form from the 13-14 season. Cole, Hamilton, and Williams will work well in rotation. Phoenix is the right destination for Danny Granger and John Salmons, and the Suns acquired two great first round draft picks.

One of the other 3 way trades included the Pistons, Thunder, and Jazz. The Pistons get Reggie Jackson, Thunder get Enes Kanter, Steve Novak, DJ Augustin, and Kyle Singler, the Jazz get Grant Jerrett, Kendrick Perkins, Draft Rights to Tibor Pleiss, 2017 second round pick, and future first round pick from Thunder. Reggie Jackson will be a great fit at the point guard position in Detroit where he can truly show off his full potential instead of being under Russel Westbrook. The Thunder made a much stronger bench with backup point guard, DJ Augustin, and shooter, Steve Novak. Jerret is a keeper and Perkins will be looking for a buyout to go onto a contenders roster.

In the last 3 team trade the Suns got Brandon Knight and Kendall Marshall, the Bucks got Michael Carter-Williams, Tyler Ennis, and Miles Plumlee. The Sixers got a 2015 first round draft pick from the Lakers. Jason Kidd can utilize two new point guards in Carter-Williams and Ennis. The Suns can continue their guard rotation with Brandon Knight.

Kevin Garnett is going back to to the place where played his first 12 seasons for Thaddeus Young.

Phoenix got 2016 first round draft pick and Marcus Thornton but traded Isiah Thomas. Thomas never got to run the show on the Suns but he will get that opportunity in Boston.

The Kings got Andre Miller and the Wizards got Ramon Sessions. Andre Miller will fit in well with Demarcus Cousins in Sacremento. Sessions will be a good backup to John Wall.

The Pistons got Tayshaun Prince, and the Celtics got Jonas Jerebko, and Gigi Datome. Tayshaun is returning to Detroit and they can use him in the second half of the season for the playoff push.

The Knicks got Alexey Shved 2017 and 2019 second round draft pick, and the Rockets will get Pablo Prigoni. The Rockets didn’t get Goran Dragic like they were hoping for, but they did get Pablo Prigoni who is a good shooter and good off the ball.
