By: Luz Zamudio

Country’s biggest night took place this last Wednesday, November 5th. In this event, nominees for music awards of the Country genre attended in hopes of winning these much coveted trophies. Under the 13 categories that awards are given out for, the following artists won.

Entertainer of the Year – Luke Bryan

Female Vocalist of the Year – Miranda Lambert

Single of the Year – “Automatic” by Miranda Lambert

Male Vocalist of the Year – Blake Shelton

Vocal Group of the Year – Little Big Town

Music Video of the Year – “Drunk on a Plane” by Dierks Bentley

Vocal Duo of the Year – Florida Georgia Line

Musical Event of the Year – “We Were Us” by Keith Urban and Miranda Lambert

New Artist of the Year – Brett Eldredge

Album of the Year – “Platinum” by Miranda Lambert

Song of the Year – “Follow Your Arrow” by Kacey Musgraves

Musician of the Year – Mac McAnally

And finally,

Irving Wahl Award for Excellence – Vince Gill

Performances by artists like Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, and wife Miranda Lambert left country fans like me satisfied with the outcomes and procession of the event; however, considering I’m also a Taylor Swift fan, I must admit I was a bit disappointed that she did not win the one award she was nominated for, Female Vocalist of the Year. But it is to be expected since she has strayed from the country genre in her later albums and Miranda Lambert is an outstanding artist.
