A Clash of Kings

In the 16th clash between Brady and Manning, The Patriots blew out the Broncos 43-21 despite Peyton Manning’s 438 yards.  Tom Brady threw for 333 yards and 4 TDs while Rob Gronkowski had 105 yards and 1 TD.

The Patriot’s defense and special teams were outstanding. The Patriots defense had two picks and 1 sack on Manning. Julian Edelman returned a punt 84 yards for a TD in the second quarter off of Tim Wright’s block.

“Minitron can do so many things, he’s so quick,” Brady said of Edelman. “What he did on the punt return was incredible.”

Before the game, it was snowing hard in Boston; however, the snow stopped, but it still very windy which made Manning uncomfortable. Stephen Gostkowski made 2 field goals against the wind including a 45 yarder.

Manning had two interceptions; one of which was picked off by Rob Ninkovich who returned it to the Broncos own 34 yard line. The second bounced off Wes Welker, a former Patriot, and went into the hands of Brandon Browner who brought it to the Broncos 10 yard line.

“Well, I don’t usually stink, but I stunk today,” said Manning, 38, who was drafted in 1998, two years before Brady. “I don’t make any excuses. “

This was Brady’s 200th start and he has 155 wins; the most for any quarterback at the 200th start mark.
