Some of us dread school and are so excited for a week off to relax. Well the good news is there’s only 2 weeks until fall break! When we think of fall, we think about jumping into a big pile of leaves, melting holiday scented candles, and getting ready for sweater weather. But in Chandler, we don’t have crisp leaves or even leaves that change color; we have hot weather, dirt, and cacti. Well I don’t know about you, but the second we go on break I am going to take the first chance I get to get out of the heat. So here are some places here in Arizona that you might want to check out over Fall Break!
One of the cities that attracts many visitors is Flagstaff. This charming city has many sites to see, like the Lowell Observatory and the Museum of Northern Arizona. And if you’re really a nature enthusiast, check out the many trails for hiking and camping. Flagstaff is filled with national forests, parks, and of course, ski-resorts: The Coconino National Forest, Bearizona Wildlife Parks, and the Arizona Snowbowl.
Another great vacation city is Greer. With a whopping population of 41 people, this beautiful city is located in the White Mountains and offers a variety of nature trails and photo-worthy sceneries. Like Flagstaff, Greer is known for its many ski lodges, but visiting the city out-of-season does have its perks. Visiting during the fall allows you to experience the great outdoors at a reasonable temperature. Some popular activities include horseback riding, fishing, and camping. One of the more preferred destinations to go horseback riding is the X Diamond Ranch. For more details about the X Diamond Ranch and other activites in Greer, visit: http://www.xdiamondranch.com/horseback.html.
Finally, another city that serves as a great getaway destination is Pinetop. Of course, like Flagstaff and Greer, Pinetop is a popular ski destination. Again, going off-season is always a plus. You can enjoy quiet nature hikes and drives through calm roads and highways while immersing yourself in the Native American culture. Pinetop has some of the most breathtaking views around. Rich in history and heritage, this city offers more than just nature. It has a lively culture that the whole family can enjoy. If you’re going for a relaxing getaway, you can consider malls, spas, and some of the best restaurants around as just a few components of your relaxation.
Even though fall break seems so far away, it’s never too early to start planning. Whether it’s traveling in Arizona or going out of state, there’s so much to do! COMMENT AND LET US KNOW WHERE YOU’RE PLANNING ON GOING!
